FAQ

The hand converter is pretty easy to figure out, but just to make sure all of our members know how to use it, we created this FAQ page. Hope this helps solve some problems you may have! To see the answer to the listed questions, press the blue down arrow.

  • What is the purpose of the hand converter?
The hand converter takes the messy and hard to read hand history text file that you get from an online poker room and changes it into a much more readable format. You can then post this output in the FTR forums, or other online poker forums, to get feedback! Please click here or see the room list below for before and after examples.
  • Can I use the FTR converter for other poker forums?
Absolutely! We support formats for the most popular poker forums including FlopTurnRiver, TwoPlusTwo, PocketFives, CardRunners, and more.
  • What rooms does the hand converter work with?
We are constantly adding support for new rooms/networks. To see our current supported sites list, please click here.

We are always trying to fix any bugs we come across, but if you happen to find anything wrong with the hand converter, we would appreciate it if you let us know.
  • I don't see the format listed that I was looking for.
You can request that we add the format by clicking on the Request New Format link. We will look into your request and contact you as soon as we can.
  • The hand looks messed up when I convert it.
If you convert a hand, but the output has any problems, please click the SUBMIT A BUG link which appears on the bottom right of the converter. This will open a form where you can leave us your e-mail and a description of the issue so we can contact you when we fix the bug. This link is very helpful to us because it also includes the archive of the hand you tried to convert, so we can see the problem.
  • Error: Can't determine file format
If you received this error, please check you pasted the entire hand history into the input box. You can see the How to use the Converter section below for an example of what should be pasted into the input box for all rooms.
  • Error: Don't know what to do with game ""
If you received this error, please check to see that we support to room or network you are trying to convert.
  • Error: Failed to parse game header
This is usually due to a room that is unsupported. However, it can also mean there was a problem with the beginning of the hand history. Please check the header of the HH to ensure there were no other characters or text added.
  • Other errors
If you receive any additional errors, the converter will not work, or you have a suggestion for improvement please click here to let us know.

The FTR Hand History Converter has many options and features to personalize or add details to your hands. Below you will see each option and what it is used for.
  • Format
This option lets you choose the correct format for the output based on which forums you will be posting them in. We support the most popular online poker forums today, including FlopTurnRiver, TwoPlusTwo, CardRunners, PocketFives, and more. If you want to post a hand in your blog, select Blogs/HTML. If you do not see the format on our list, press the Request New Format link to send us an e-mail.
  • Identify yourself as
This changes your name in the hand history to whatever you'd like. As default it is set to Hero, but you can call yourself anything you like.
  • Side-pot details
Check this box if your hand contains various side pots and you want the details to be shown in the summary.
  • Mark important stacks
This will bold stacks that saw the flop, and also bold and red stacks that went to showdown.
  • Show results
If checked, this will include results at the bottom of the hand. They will be hidden in white so the user will have to highlight to see them.
  • High your cards & identity
This option will treat the hand like it was observed, and just show the action. There will be no Hero.
  • Opponent aliases
You can use this option to change the name of any opponent in the hand. For example, if someone in your hand has the name "player1" and you want to change this to "huge donk," you would type "player1" in the (Opponent name) box. Then you would type "huge donk" in the (Opponent alias) box below. If you do not use this option, player names will default to their position at the table.
  • Show Replayer Animated GIF
This is a new feature that works for any poker room. When selected, it will also generate an anmiated table image to go with the hand history. This GIF image will show all of the hand action and be used as a visual aide to go with the text. It can be posted on all major online poker sites. Here is a sample image that will appear:

Below you will see all of the poker rooms the FTR Hand Converter currently supports. Here you will see an example of what you need to paste into the input box, and a converted result. Click on any of the poker rooms (or networks) to jump to their example - Full Tilt, PokerStars, PartyPoker, Absolute, UltimateBet, Everest, Hold'em Manager, Ongame Network, iPoker Network, Cake Network, CryptoLogic Network, Boss Network (IPN), Prima Network.
  • Full Tilt
FullTiltPoker has some pretty easy to read hand history files, and each hand is seperated in one text file per table played in a session. Below you can find an example of a Full Tilt hand in raw form that should be pasted into the converter. Next to it you will see the clean converted hand:

PartyPoker hands can look pretty ugly, especially if you are multi-tabling. For some reason, they decided to include the ">You have options at Table" line in their hand histories. The converted results removes all the unnecessary text.

  • Hold'em Manager
Hold'em Manager is a tracking program that you can use to keep statistics and results of your online poker play. Since all poker rooms have a different hand history format, Hold'em Manager converts every poker room to one uniform format. If for example you play on PokerStars and Full Tilt, there is no way to tell the difference between the hands after you import them to Hold'em Manager. Since this program is becoming so popular, we are one of the only sites that has added support to our hand converter. The converted result next to it shows displays the action much more clearly.

  • iPoker Network
The iPoker network is definitely confusing when it comes to their hand history files. When you save your hand histories to your computer on the iPoker network, it is done in .xml format. If you try to open this xml file up and look at it, you won't even know where to begin. It will be impossible to check your hands or ask for advice. However, if you import these hands into PokerTracker, you come up with a better hand history. Even though they're better, it's still very difficult to read them, mainly because the way they display cards. But if you put them in our converter, you will get a very nice result.
